My fencing club, SHŠ Krkavci, invites you to a team longsword tournament!
Teams of 3-4 members compete in the tournament. In the first phase, the members compete in groups, similarly to classic tournaments. Based on the group phase results, a team elimination bracket is arranged, where the whole teams compete in a relay format similar to the one used in sport fencing.
Date: 11th October 2025
Place: Prague, Czechia (specific venue to be announced)
Category: long sword open
Capacity: at least 16 teams of 3-4 members, with a possible increase up to 32 teams
Registration: to be announced, but you can already fill out a pre-registration survey (https://forms.gle/mdXzAxFtuuJeqYf49), which would help us gauge the interest, and we will also be able to notify you about the launch of registration via the e-mail you will write there

Yesterday and the day before I took part in the Berlin HEMA Cup. Here I describe the second day when I fought with the longsword. This tournament used an unusual system where the results of the bouts were not important, but those of the indiviudal exchanges were. Nevertheless, I was sixth after the pools, and easily advanced into the elimination. In the elimination, I fought quite well, I would say, because I have not been defeated, and finished the first 🥇, claiming the gold bear! I thank a lot to the Czech-Slovak island for preparation for this afterblow tournament.

With saber, I was 14th after the pools out of 49 competitors, and advanced to the elimination. However, I lost in the first round of 32.
With rapier and dagger I was 16th out of 35, and also advanced to the elimination. I won in the first round, but lost in the second.

The second to the last week I took part in the tournament FechtBerg in Bielsko-Biała in Poland. On the first day we fenced with longsword and rapier with dagger. With the longsword I fought very well: I won all the bouts in the group, and then in first three elimination bouts. However, in the fourth bout, the quarter-final, I lost to Pavel Dostal, and finished 5th to 8th.
I did not fight as well with rapier and dagger: in total I won three bouts as well as lost three, one of which was in the first round of elimination.
On the second day there was a team longsword tournament in which I participated as a member of the Czech team. We fought very well, only one team - the Polish one - defeated us, therefore our team finished 2nd.
The last competition was saber, but in it I fought the worst of all the competitions - I won only two bouts in the group, I lost three, and did not advance to the elimination.

Open du Port de la Lune, day two - saber and sword and buckler. In the saber group I lost only once, most narrowly 6:7, and won in the other three bouts. I advanced to the elimination where I won in the first round, but in the next one (top 8) I lost.
In the sword and buckler group I also lost once, and won twice. In the elimination, to which 8 of 12 fighters advanced, I won in the first round, then I lost in the semifinal. In the very last fight, I was able to win, claiming the bronze medal 🥉. Unless I remember incorrectly, this is my first medal for sword and buckler.
Congratulations to Batesta Bordeaux for a well organised tournament, especially considering this was the first time 👏

Open du Port de la Lune, day one - longsword. Today I took part in a tournament in Bordeaux, France, organised by Batesta Bordeaux. In the pool I performed very well, having only a single point scored against me, winning all four bouts. However, the elimination (which 16 fencers of 34 in total advanced to) was much more difficult. All the bouts were super close, and I could have lost in each one of it, but that did not happen, and I won the whole tournament and claimed the gold medal 🥇. I am very happy about it, and I look forward to the second day when there will be saber and sword & buckler tournaments. I can only hope to be similarly lucky.

Helsinki Longsword Open 2025, day two and very short one - long sword. My performance was catastrophic. In the pool I won only twice, twice I lost, and had one draw. I narrowly advanced to the elimination - I was 95th and 96 advanced - where I lost right in the first fight.
Even though I certainly could have fought better, it is not possible not to mention the judging, because it was terrible in my opinion. Unless the hits were very obvious, it resembled a lottery. This judging was one of the worst I have experienced. I thank a lot Czech, Slovak, and Polish judges for their quality. I have come to the opinion that HLO is only big, and nothing else (based on not only this year, but also the two previous years when I participated).
