Do you have "just a few" single skeins waiting to be whipped up into odd-ball sweaters for your family, including your parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews…

After nearly a two-year hiatus, I signed up again to be a Knitty Patreon. I’ve been a fan of their online magazine, even at a time when other online knitting magazines were all the rage. Anyone here remember KnitNet? Didn’t think so. KnittingDaily? OK, maybe a few of you. Knitty, established in 2002, is one… Continue reading Becoming Knitty+

7.2.2025 12:09Comment on The Copyright FAQ For Knitters by What happened on r/knitting in the last 24 hours? – Ms. Yarnaholic's School for Wayward SkeinsWow. I mean, wow! I’ve been away for a while but logged in today to express my ire over the recent changes to our dashboard interface that WordPress.com announced after the fact. But I digress. Sometime in the last 24 hour there must have been a real copyright flame war on Reddit. The Copyright FAQ… Continue reading What happened on r/knitting in the last 24 hours?
7.2.2025 12:09What happened on r/knitting in the last 24 hours?WordPress.com recently announced that they were giving their users (and Tumblr users) more control over content sharing with AI Companies. Opt-in is the default, so in order to remove your site from being crawled, you’ll need to change a setting in your site’s Privacy settings. Go to your site’s Dashboard>General Settings>Privacy and tick the box… Continue reading How You Can Opt-out of Sharing Your WordPress.com Website Content With AI Models
1.3.2024 11:39How You Can Opt-out of Sharing Your WordPress.com Website Content With AI ModelsThe die’s been cast. Since this site has not generated enough income through ads or donations to cover expenses in keeping my site online, in another two weeks I’ll need to choose between going back to having a totally free-of-charge website or shutting it down. While that might sound drastic, the vulgar ads that WordPress.com… Continue reading That’s a Wrap!
4.11.2022 23:24That’s a Wrap!Don’t I wish I was talking about the latest rav pattern or knitting magazine. No, we’re still in that part of the year when just sitting and thinking makes one break out in a sweat. But there’s hope! The overnight temps have started to drop and there’s a hint of a cool breeze in the… Continue reading It’s hot! It’s so HOT!
12.9.2022 18:54It’s hot! It’s so HOT!Now that my special person has received it, I can finally share with you what I’ve been working on since February and finished in early June (with many breaks in between to sniff smelling salts). I took copious notes on my Ravelry project page for those who might consider knitting the free pattern available on… Continue reading FO gifted at last!
3.7.2022 17:31FO gifted at last!I spent some time yesterday in that timesuck known as Ravelry, specifically looking at all the lovely kippot that you’ve knitted since my last visit to my free kippah pattern page. One thing that stood out was how many of you are flipping your kippah to the stocking stitch (AKA knit) side to wear rather… Continue reading Why Reverse Stocking Stitch?
27.6.2022 08:30Why Reverse Stocking Stitch?Sometime in the not too distant past I started knitting a surprise project ahead of someone special’s special birthday. That project has run so far over the intended 100 days that it made me laugh (better to laugh than cry!). I still don’t want to share photos publicly for fear that the recipient will find… Continue reading Not Quite the #100dayproject
15.6.2022 18:31Not Quite the #100dayprojectHere it is, the project that over 160 intrepid knitters on Ravelry have finished. (Secretly, I also have to wonder how many knitters didn’t!) I’ll be relying on the wisdom of those intrepid knitters because the piece-by-piece knitting instructions are quite a challenge. I’m using the free online pattern, which after reading it over might […]… Continue reading My 100 Day Project Blog 2022
7.2.2022 21:48My 100 Day Project Blog 2022Ads, I mean. For the whole of last year I ran ads here at Ms. Yarnaholic’s School for Wayward Skeins in an effort to recuperate some of the expense of keeping this site going. If I actually counted on ad revenue alone, this site would have gone dark. One year, over 18K ads served, with… Continue reading And then there were none

It is a lovely backstory, isn’t it! I knit 6 in the end – finished the last today. One hat left to go! Then no more hats for a while

Since my group is just some friends who realized we all like to knit, there's just 4 of us--which makes scheduling and finding venues a lot easier.

It sounds like a lovely reason to get out and socialize. Our local SnB has people coming from all over, so finding a place that is good for everyone either by car or bus has been a major challenge, also due to dietary needs. The TLV group sprung forth spontaneously and we meet at someone's house. It's very peaceful. :)
