The open web, one free from big corporations is alive. You just have to try it, support it, read about it. I know... reading in 2024... ugh.

5.7.2024 15:00Aurora Borealis At This Time of Year? In This Part of the Country?[…] and I started planning for this year’s eclipse right after we experienced the one in 2017 in Nashville. During that trip, I didn’t know what to expect, and while I was able to get some photos of the […]
16.4.2024 18:38Comment on The US Total Solar Eclipse of 2017 by The Jarbochov Stratagem - The Total Solar Eclipse of 2024I experienced a total solar eclipse TWICE and lived to tell the tale. Also, I got some good shots.

9.1.2024 19:5125 Years & A New LookI’m still surprised in 2023 that Nintendo is still releasing amiibo for some of the biggest games, and that every Super Smash Bros. character will have an amiibo as well. They may not have much functionality these days (never forget Mario Maker for the Wii U), but they sure are neat.

19.10.2023 13:12Comment on How a Social Network Fails by Jared CherupHow a Social Network Fails – The Atlantic “Many core social-platform functions, such as the hashtag, reblog, and retweet, were not invented by Silicon Valley tech geniuses. Instead, they were pioneered by enthusiastic users who loved the products they were using, and they were only later formalized into the apps themselves.” “Elon has these really […]

19.9.2023 21:43Comment on Weather Geek Apps by The Jarbochov Stratagem - My Weather Resources 2023Everyone is always asking me... what weather apps I use. Well it's been since 2016 since I made a post about it, so I'll go ahead and share.
19.9.2023 21:43My Weather Resources 2023My blog now supports the protocol that supports the Fediverse. Which means you can now follow this blog on your favorite Fediverse platform such as Mastodon. @wyomingjarbo

2.8.2023 16:15Further Down The Tetris Rabbit HoleThese are just some image manipulation experiments I did in Pixelmator Pro to approximate a dithering style I saw somewhere. I personally like how the pixelation is less pronounced and how they sort of look like old photos in a newspaper. This was just for fun but I wanted to share them.

21.11.2022 16:39MastodonWith Twitter’s possible inevitable collapse, I find myself wanting to go back to the blog. You know, before the whole microblog. 15.11.2022 20:32TwitterRecently got to take the new iPhone 14 Pro Max out into a good photography moment of the Columbus skyline facing east during a sunset. If you zoom into the wide angle photo, you might exclaim “that’s a lot of pixels”.
3.10.2022 16:00Recently got to take the new iPhone 14 Pro Max out into a good photography moment of the Columbus skyline facing east during a sunset. If...Ask your doctor if the Weekly Jarbochov Roundup is right for you. Side effects may include: not as weekly as suggested, footnoteitis, video games, probably something about Flickr.
2.9.2022 19:51The Weekly Jarbochov Roundup [Not So Weekly Edition] (September 2nd, 2022)I ain’t a vacuum. I mean, I’m pretty sure I’m not… GOOOOOOSE!!!! I learned about that lost Sesame Street episode before, so I’ll need to check it out. Margaret Hamilton felt so bad about scaring kids with it, too. I kinda wonder if it’d have the same effect anymore. I was far more interested in that Excel battle than I thought, watching a good 15+ minutes of it. I guess I’ll have to watch the whole thing sometime as well!
14.8.2022 20:26Comment on The Weekly Jarbochov Roundup Anniversary Edition (August 13th, 2022) by Chris McLaughlinA WHOLE ASS YEAR?! CONGRATS! 1. Thank you for doing these- I’ve learned so much 2. But also: I wish I knew less about woodpeckers now… I liked the view that Naturalist at a metro park gave me about their stupid tongues protecting their little peanut brains 3. That lost/found Wicked Witch thing was super cool 4. My favorite roundup??? Probably the one where I get a shoutout, hahaha. No, I’ve learned something cool/interesting/frustrating from each one, which is a total cop out answer… but doesn’t make it less true 5. Gabe’s favorite recipe is just straight pickles

14.6.2022 12:58Comment on The Jarbochov Sometimes Roundup (June 10th, 2022) by Jared CherupBDG’s videos have gotten just insanely weirder since he has become his own editor. This roundup was JAM PACKED. Like I feel like I maybe consumed 40% of it and could just keep coming back for more. Can you do a list of your top most watched YouTube channels? Like a top 10, I always check to see if they have a new upload, type of list. Kthx

That moon article was hilarious and “I apologize for the thing I said about your Mom” was gold. I feel like we could still find some of those playground features in my old neighborhood on the west side. You know I’m fucking down for some nerd shit in thrift store paintings!

I’m not surprised by the FB news… although it does make me incredible surprised they booted Trump. Love how that article about Microsoft being password free sounded like one big ad for a password manager. Still need to watch the other movie things you posted because they look so cool. Thanks for posting the roundup! I’ll look forward to whatever you decide to write this upcoming week. Have fun being #beachjared
