3.1.2025 07:40Understanding the Benefits of Expungement for a Clean SlateIn reply to Christopher Robin.
The following is copy and pasted from Coach T. Volunteer and Founder at GOGI:

Relapse is a rabbit hole from which few escape unscathed. At GOGI, we have found that moving beyond the possibility of relapse takes specific ingredients that are easily found, but often avoided by those suffering from addiction. To help remind the GOGI student of their goal to stay out of jail, we suggest the following:

1) FLIP THE SWITCH - Memorize ONE GOGI Life Tool. Just one. Use that one GOGI Life Tool every day, all day. That is your go-to support. For those suffering from addiction, we oftentimes recommend FIVE SECOND LIGHTSWITCH. With this tool you notice that you are having an addicts thought and then you "flip the switch" and physically do something positive. This helps the brain re-wire and create impulse alternatives that are positive.

2) SOBER SITUATIONS - We find that our students are far more successful when they associate with sober people. While they may seem "boring" at first, the longer the person is sober, the more interesting sober people become. While some individuals do not like them, AA and NA meetings ARE helpful, if you attending them with the right mindset. Also, churches suggest sobriety. Going to any church activity is likely to offer off other sober people doing sober things.

3) SERVICE - And, finally, when you choose to be of service to others, it is easier to walk away from anything that might weaken you. You remain strong for someone/something else. Volunteering at the animal shelter has actually saved the lives of more than a few addicts.

The key is to remember that it takes a LONG TIME to move beyond the automatic thinking that lands people in the back of a squad car. Just remember these three priorities and you will find yourself going to jail, but as a guest speaker about success who gets to walk out of the jail using the front door!

With Love,

Coach Taylor
