I’ve got a grass problem on my plot, the grass grows better than anything else. It’s a constant battle trying to keep the grass short and has so far caused the end of a petrol mower. I took my battery … Continue reading
12.5.2024 20:48Mowing grass by handIt’s only taken half a year, but my greenhouse is now finally ready for things to be planted in it! It has all its windows, won’t blow away and after a trip to Wickes the ground is now suitable for … Continue reading
7.5.2024 12:37What a load of farmyard manure this gardening thing is.After getting sent a letter about the state of my plot, I went and read the rules for what I can and cannot do on the land. It turns out I can grow more than food. Flowers are acceptable too. … Continue reading
2.4.2024 09:47Planting more than foodNow the shed is in a better place I’ve been going around the plot unearthing all sorts of rubbish, items I’d forgotten about and random pieces of broken glass. I’m now piling things up in different parts of the plot … Continue reading
1.4.2024 09:33General Plot TidyingAfter moving the shed I was left with a patch of ground that is relatively low in weeds and planned on using it as just another area for growing things. However, after getting rid of the other greenhouse I was … Continue reading
31.3.2024 14:32Creating a covered planting areaThe shed’s moved finally. The stupid thing is now behind the greenhouse out the way from prying eyes, sticky fingers and the vicious strong winds that try to blow everything away. Making things wind proof is the aim of the … Continue reading
29.3.2024 17:39Moving the ShedGrass at home doesn’t do well, I don’t know whether it’s my inconsistent mowing, the shaded parts of the garden where the grass is, or that the soil is thick and full of heavy clay on a layer of building … Continue reading

My plan is to grow excessive amounts of crops that do well on my plot. That's why this year we have about 20 kilos of potatoes to eat and a freezer drawer full of runner beans.

24.8.2022 14:22Comment on Shed Upgrade by jamesIt's hard to tell from the photo, is it tall enough to stand up in or is it one of those boxes you store lawnmowers and spades in but aren't expected to go inside ?
