Comment on Post-Processing by ludwigkeck

In reply to margaret21. Thank you, Margaret, Don't fret. Many other photographers don't like post-processing. If my memory serves me right even Ansel Adams was one of those who believed in the "straight out of the camera" approach, although he did make some magnificent prints. Post-processing is a somewhat different art, some people thrive on it, others abhor it. In my next post I will illustrate what one of the tools can do. Wait for it.

Not bad indeed. I wish I could persuade myself to enjoy editing. But I just ... don't.

Norcross has a lot of festivals. They are all interesting, colorful, and enjoyable. My most recent visit was to the Irish Fest. I did not take my “big” camera, just my iPhone, and took just a few photos. As I was going through them one caught my attention. It showed musicians on the stage, but… Continue reading Post-Processing

Playing with Light

https://phototalk.cafeludwig.com...

On sunny days two of our indoor plants get scanned with a narrow beam of sunlight. It is intriguing to see the brightly illuminated leaves and blossoms and how the light plays with them. I decided to join in and play with the light some more in post-processing. Here are three photos as seen by… Continue reading Playing with Light

A Troublesome Little Bird

https://phototalk.cafeludwig.com...

… a small tale about preparedness in photography It wasn’t the little bird that irked me, it was my own failure to be well prepared. My friend David had invited me over to his place to photograph some birds. We hadn’t done that for a while, although it would be a cold and blustery January… Continue reading A Troublesome Little Bird

The Dark Side of Me

https://phototalk.cafeludwig.com...

In our house, we have a little plant that sits quietly by a window. On bright days, a fleeting beam of sunlight filters through the glass, illuminating its tender leaves for just a few precious minutes. The plant responds by opening its blossoms, one after another, as if it were a ritual. In these moments,… Continue reading The Dark Side of Me

Rembrandt Lighting

Some thoughts on art and A.I. About four years ago I started a presentation project that I titled “Seeing Like An Artist”. It was meant to help photographers to expand their vision and skills. The presentation never saw the light of day. I had downloaded a large group of images from my favorite source for… Continue reading Rembrandt Lighting

Contrast

https://phototalk.cafeludwig.com...

Contrast in My Photography Over in Substack Juliette Mansour asks, “How Contrasty Are You?” So of course, I had to go pick some of my photos and try to answer the question. Contrast has many aspects. There are scenes and subjects that are inherently contrasty and some that have almost none – foggy scenes for… Continue reading Contrast
