I find the core wiring of my thinking constantly trying to convince me that what I like to do and what I'm doing and what interests me are wrong and bad and different therefore "sinful" -- thanks fundamentalist evangelical bullshit shit childhood cult programming.

Do you like to think about things and ask question?! SHUT UP! That's wrong.
Do you like to hyper-focus on learning?! STOP! That's wrong.
Do you like to explore why and how all manner of things work or function? NO! That's wrong.
Do you like to think logically about things? NO! HAVE FAITH! Logic is wrong.

Whatever was deemed 'wrong" (basically anything non-conforming to the cult members around me as a kid) was therefore "sinful" and would send me straight to hell.

This is a generalization of my childhood experience, but lies at the core of much of my present-day anxiety still.

Working through these, understand them, decompiling them and throwing away the garbage of it all does get easier over time.

It's a slow burn, but worth the effort.
