Out Now! Yemoja Tears: An Anthology about Water, Bodies and Bodies of Water

https://multimindpublishing.com/...

Yemoja Tears is finally out! I talked about the anthology briefly in a couple past posts. My short story “Stalwart” is in the anthology, which is basically a sci-fi roman a clef derived from me listening to Mos Def’s song “New World Water” And when my city, Baltimore, bungled a water crisis event, which the... New Book Coming Out: YA Dark Fantasy Horror Novel, “The Harlequin” (March 14, 2025) – Storygraph Giveaway starts on Feb 19!

https://multimindpublishing.com/...

I’ve made mentions to it here and there but now that the cover is done and narrators are picked, I can talk about everything in full. What The Harlequin is about: Quiet and bookish, Rosalyn always loved living in her head, especially under the glow of the silent moonlight. One snowy moonlit night, she finds... Continue Reading →

It’s 2025 so that means I’ll be planning to head to S. Korea between Oct and Dec. That means after The Harlequin is out and published (March 14, 2025), everything will be focused on writing Soaring, a sci-fi fantasy alternative history work that has been worked on since about 2014. I talk more about it... Continue Reading →

Blockage and Writing

https://multimindpublishing.com/...

Some people don’t have a book in them. They think they do but honestly, they probably don’t. And that’s ok. Writing is something that I notice people think is easy and that they’ll one day “sit down and write a book” – which never comes. Some folks have genuine reasons to as why they can’t... Anything that doesn't go into the Vault goes where ever it goes, such as Surplus, a different Division (if deemed important enough), or to the tosser. Your publisher should already know the difference between LCCN/CIP. That's their job, not yours. And how to tie-in a book is also a publisher question, ask them. Also, read the CIP/LCCN data website linked above about how libraries, CIP and LCCN works. It's there in black & white. I also explain it in the blog, that should be good enough

WordPress is killing me! I left a comment that created a different username so I went to my account changed it to terrillmsullivan and now the comment is missing. Can I get the graphic novels and workbook into libraries and schools without a CIP data block? With only an LCCN number? Again, appreciative of your comments. Terrill

I wills send them in as is. So CIP is not available for on demand. I will let BRW know. When you say “not placed in the vault” means the books will be tossed out after verification? Final question: I created a workbook for education that is tied to the graphic novels. How do i tie-in a workbook LCCN to the novels? It will be self published again on demand thru IngramSpark.

That’s something to ask Black Rose Writing about if they’re your publisher because that’s their problem to fix. If they’re filling out LCCN numbers while ticking off the boxes of “What Makes You Eligible For CIP Data“, that’s a question you need to raise to them. And as a publisher, if they’re going to be jaded about a process they should know forwards and backwards before even opening their submission box, they should probably shutter their doors and pick up a different trade. Here’s something else you’re probably not going to like: CIP is for traditional publishing houses primarily. On Demand does not count as traditional publishers. Anything On-Demand is LCCN always. If they are not Random House, if they are using Ingram Spark, then they need to use LCCN. Ingram is indie, as in you literally could do it yourself and LoC would not see it any different. From the website itself (emphasis mine): “These categories of material are ineligible for CIP General • Books that are already published • Books without a U.S. city as place of publication on the title page or the copyright page • A statement indicating distribution in the U.S. is not sufficient. • Books in non-Western European languages • Books paid for or subsidized by individual authors • Books published on demand • Books published by firms that have published books by fewer than three different authors • Books for which a Library of Congress Control Number has been preassigned via the Preassigned Control Number (PCN) Program” Just send in the LCCN versions. They’re just getting looked at to be verified, not placed into the Vault.

Comment on CIP, Cataloging-In-Publication, LCCN, Library of Congress – I worked there, let me tell you how things work” by Terrill

https://multimindpublishing.com/...

Thanks for giving us an inside look at the LOC. I have a two volume series graphic novel that both books have LCCN numbers. I haven’t had the publisher send copies to the Library of Congress yet as I would like the CIP data block inserted. I want to get the series in schools and libraries so would that be important? or would just the LCCN number suffice? The books are printed on demand with Ingram as fulfillment, the published date for each was April and July 2024 https://catalog.loc.gov/vwebv/search?searchCode=LCCN&searchArg=2023948134&searchType=1&permalink=y https://catalog.loc.gov/vwebv/search?searchArg=endurance+the+beckoning+shore&searchCode=GKEY%5E*&searchType=0&recCount=25 Black Rose Writing casts a jaded eye at this process so I am having issues getting them to go on their portal to retrieve the CIP data block for me. Since its on demand and only a few book have been output, I will update the copyright page to include the data block for future prints and send the books in to get in the LOC. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Terrill
