Janurary – part 2

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

Here is the ‘part 2’ of my January reads – I did read quite a range of genres in the last half of January. It was the month of the Backlist Reads. I think only three out of the nine I read were brand new books. The others had been gathering dust on my bookshelves […]

January Part 1

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

So here are the reviews of the first few books that I read in January. A little disclaimer – I will be using the brief descriptions from various book websites (Goodreads, StoryGraph ect) to help explain the book. I want to focus my reviews on my thoughts rather than trying to explain and potentially ruin […]

Hi 2025, play nice!

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

What else is new – I am late to the game…. again…. Welcome to the New Year, New Me post. My resolution is that I have none. I will not set unattainable targets for my reading this year. I will read what I can read with the target of 150 books. I think I will […]

This week-by-week thing didn’t quite work out, did it?

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

Hi all. As you can probably tell by the title, the week by week reviews did not go to plan. I think I did have good intentions to keep myself acountable and to not overload me with tons of reviews. Unfortunately, I did not account for life being lifey and adulting happening. Below are the […]

Week 43 – A Horror Stor-y

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

So I had one standout read for this week – a horror novel set in an alternative version of that furniture chain that sells meatballs. I did read a few other books, but this will be a separate blog post on the Information Book Award that the School Library Association ran this year. Horrorstör Now, […]

Week 42 – Maybe I have found The Answer

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

You know, I might’ve cracked The Answer to life, the universe and everthing – well at least my life, universe and everything which are books. As mentioned previously, I made a TBR for the last quarter of the year instead of spontaneous reading and it seems that I made some excellent predictions on what kinds […]

Week 41 – Am I getting some 5 star reads? I think I might

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

I seemed to have set a rather good TBR for the rest of the year – so I might have some five star reads coming my way over the next few weeks. This week had some stellar candidates for my top reads of the year. Red Rising by Pierce Brown is possibly one of the […]

Week 40 – Half Term Fossicking

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

It was half term this week and I had planned a read for it. I wanted to go on holiday with a book, so I planned one around a book we had at the school library and made a thing of it. I chose Lightning Mary by Anthea Simmons and the location being Lyme Regis, […]

Week 39 – When life gives you lemons… you catch up on book reviews

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

Another week of easy to digest reads – work is still mentally draining. I read a graphic novel, The Waiting, and the sequel to The Invisible Library – The Masked City. I fancied easier reads this week as I had a lot of work things I needed to do, so unfortunately I did have to […]

Week 38 – A Top Tier Title and an Odd Audio

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

I went for two very different reads in this particular week. I had been wanting to read Boy Like Me for such a long time, and when it came back in the library from a very long term loan, I simply had to stop the rest of my reading plans to read it immediately. When […]

In reply to anwhitebooks. I thought that might be the case - I don't think I will continue the series then. I get the excitement of the romance but could it be written in a slightly less cringy way?

Yes, I gave this one about 2 stars lol. I kept reading, and I can tell you book 3 was the only one I liked (and mostly because of the romance, not because it was better written) and books 4-6 were just not good imo.

Comment on On the Way to the Wedding: Bridgerton’s #8 by New Releases that I NEED in my life – The Librarian's Bookcase

https://librariansbookcase.wordp...

[…] I must say, dear reader, that I will be purchasing this for myself at the next opportunity. I loved the Netflix show, and I do hope that Charlotte transfers well over to the page from the screen. I am very keen to read a bit deeper into Charlotte’s thoughts and what George goes through. It will be a summer read, I think. I’m quite hopeful that it will be a better read than the last Bridgerton book , which was a tad disappointing for me. […]
