Jim, thank you for this interesting information about the DeCoster house. It's always interesting to learn about the design constraints and practical barriers that resulted in a different outcome than was originally planned. Many houses along Sunset and Avalon faced similar construction problems, and indeed several required dynamite to lay foundations, water and sewer lines, etc.
