How to automatically get ALT text for your images:
The Fediverse loves it when you add ALT text to any image you upload. This enables users that are visually impaired to "read" what the image is you've posted.
There is a free service called @altbot@fuzzies.wtf that will generate ALT text for any image you post using Google's Gemini AI. If you make a post with an image that does not have ALT text, and you are following @altbot@fuzzies.wtf, you will soon receive a reply to your post with suggested (and AI generated) ALT text for your image.
You are encouraged at that point then to Edit your original post and add the ALT text either to your post or by editing the image uploaded and adding your ALT text there.
Burque.social does not have a rule that requires users to add ALT text whenever possible. Some instances on the Fediverse do. But we think it's a good thing and would encourage you to add any ALT text whenever possible.
