28.1.2025 11:46When ‘Für_Elise.md’ Isn’t the Same as ‘Für_Elise.md’In reply to Arnan. Hi Aron, thanks for your comment. The goal is not to build a mail client in Obsidian. The script runs independently, outside of Obsidian. I primarily use Obsidian to gather information and then process it to initiate small projects like this one. As I’ve mentioned before, there are situations where it’s easier for me to send or forward a pieces of information via email rather than starting Obsidian and transferring it there. With this approach, I can easily forward emails containing valuable information from other accounts directly to Obsidian. That’s what this is intended for, nothing more, nothing less. Therefore, there’s no need to send a reply.

Hi Scott, thanks for your comment. This is just a prototype of an idea that might inspire others to develop something similar themselves. I will certainly make some improvements to it, but please don’t expect a fully polished implementation. I’ll post further developments here as they happen.

There is a community plugin called MSG Handler - https://github.com/ozntel/obsidian-msg-handler That will let #Obsidian open msg and eml files. I save off the occasional outlool message to my vault and it is helpful. Your project would cut out the middle man and be native MD which would probably be better in the long run.
Let us know how it goes!
