And I feel like I don't try out new or unplayed games enough. I think along with the familiarity aspect of a replayed game, there's also the exhaustion factor to take into account. As in, I often feel drained at the end of the work day and I just don't have the capacity to try something new/different. It's just mentally easier to go back to something known, and it can sometimes be a relief or respite for that day.

I don't want to keep up with every single game as it comes out. (I obviously have to do some research for our podcast), but yeah there's too much to play, and I haven't finished the ones I started.

I meant the Aquaman comment for the next ep, which I listened to back-to-back with this one. Whoopsy... Also, I meant to mention that Tetris Effect is a visually stunning game while being fun to play. It's quite an experience! The journey mode is challenging (but in a fun way!); I think the sudden level changes make it interesting, along with the different colors and themes. Such a neat, modern take on a classic game. Five stars.

First off, I meant the Aquaman comment for this ep (which I listened to back-to-back with the last one). Oops... Secondly, gifted games are nice, but sometimes it takes more to convince someone that they should (and would really love) playing it--especially if you already have a backlog of games you've been meaning to play. I think if you want someone to get into a game, you need to have them experience the game first. Whether they are just watching you/someone play or if they actually interact themselves, that experience of the game goes a lot further and can have an impression on them. I had that over the years with Super Mario 3, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, StarCraft, Halo, TowerFall, Celeste, etc. Many of those games became instant favorites for me because of that. And three, I sometimes can feel a bit overwhelmed at how many games (and how much media type things, period) come out on a regular basis, so it's nice having some games to go back to on a regular basis. Or just replaying old favorites. They're like--to put in terms of the game tag--home base in a way, and just have feelings of comfort and familiarity. Skyrim is a game that I also happen to love (and I also happen to own several copies), and it's one of those games for me. While I like trying new games or trying out old games for the first time, I love revisiting and replaying games that I really enjoy.

Aquaman was actually pretty fun and aesthetically pleasing. It had its meh moments, but overall not bad. Second best movie of the DCEU, after Wonder Woman. (Note: I've only watched these and Man of Steel, and I only presume the other movies to be meh or awful based primarily on trailers, selected actors, and hearsay.) :) Also, "Thanksbuying" is now what I will call the holiday going forward.

Another popular open-world series not mentioned here: Grand Theft Auto. I loved GTA 3 so much because it was the first game I felt like I could truly go anyway and basically do anything, and then come back to the main storyline when I was ready. Also, GTA: Vice City was so choice.

This may be touched on a later episdoe, but I think the first DLC for BOTW was worth it because of one thing: Master Mode. It adds new elements and challenge(s) to the game, as any good DLC should do. Also, the Korok Mask is very useful (and welcome!) addition to the game. As for the super hero saturation: yes, it is becoming a bit much. It's getting to an overwhelming point, and that's from someone just trying to keep up with the MCU. I agree that it's a bubble that keeps growing; when's it going to burst? Lastly, another superhero crossover show idea. CSI: Metropolis.

Nidhogg was the surprise hit last year at 4S7P. I had followed Nidhogg for a while prior after reading its praises on indie game blogs and news. I reviewed it last year, http://www.toy-tma.com/electronic-toys/video-games/nidhogg-pc-review/ It caught my attention for two reasons: shitty graphics and swords I'm a sucker for the basic, retro and even crappy graphics of Nidhogg. Those are the games have proven to me to be gems because the focus isn't on the spectacle for HD graphics but on the fun...the game. I'm not very good at Nidhogg but it's a ton of fun. It's one of the few modern arcade-style games that really makes 1-on-1 gameplay a lot of fun with a lot satisfaction.
